Time for another Ryouhan fic, since I obviously can't do a thread between myself and myself. This is for the Valentine's event (so expect a White Day fic, too).
Theme Lyric: If this is a dream, hey hey hey? Whoa, whoa! Don't wake up! I've always, always liked you! It's strange, why do I?
Love you, love you, puwa puwa!
Let's go! Love you, love you, puwa puwa!
In the Meta World, events like Valentine's and White Day were easily comparable to Tanabata, where the lines between Meta and the real world were easily blurred, allowing even those who could not normally interact to meet face-to-face. For Ryouko, this meant that she could venture out of this malevolent purgatory and finally have a conversation with the man that she had feelings for without having to bribe a bunch of witches to take her to the Great Library or hope he'd come by. After making a gigantic mess in the Ayashima main mansion's kitchen, Ryouko had finally managed to pack an empty heart-shaped box full of chocolates with plenty of chocolates left over. The chocolates not in a box would go to her master, Lady Kyouko, in a cute cellophane bag tied with a ribbon. She hugged herself at the thought of the person she was giving the box to. "Ahn... Rohan-kun...!!"
The young amateur detective came to her senses quickly and took her candy with her, leaving the mess behind for the servants to deal with, and she headed to her room in the guest house to prepare for her trip to the Meta World. She grabbed two of her notebooks in addition to her candy. Ryouko sat on her bed and clutched the candy to her chest, and when she opened her eyes, she found herself in the tea room of the Meta World. "My Master!! Are you here?" she called out, looking for the witch with red hair similar to hers.
"You called for me, Ryouko? What is it?" The Space Witch asked, and Ryouko ran up to her. "You're certainly excited, aren't you..."
Ryouko laughed and held out the bag of chocolates to her master. "Happy Valentine's Day, my Master! I-I made these for you...." Her eyes sparkled as Kyouko took the chocolates. "Fear not, I would never prank my Master by putting peppers or needles in them. I love my Master too much!" She yelped in surprise as Kyouko pat her head.
"Thanks, Ryouko. You're a truly good piece," Kyouko smiled at her, "Absolutely and truly the best. Do you wish for me to confirm it in Red for you? Ryouko Otonashi, you are a truly wonderful--"
Ryouko wiped away the tears that had started to form. "N-No, your kind words are more than enough for me, Master! I... I promise to perform in a manner that honors your name!" She pushed a piece of her hair behind her ear and stammered out, "I-I forgot, I need to get to work on solving one of the mysteries! A-a detective never rests on her laurels! See you, Master!!" before vanishing out of the Team Room.
Ryouko ran fast once she teleported back to the human world, and this time, found herself blocks away from her other crush's house. "Ahaha.... I'm not worthy of such kind words from Master... not when I haven't destroyed Eli-san yet..." She inhaled a deep breath to try to fight back the anxiousness she felt at seeing the other light of her life. She looked through one of her notebooks, and blushed wildly after realizing she had opened the one with her erotic stories rather than the one with her memories. "It's okay, though, because there's no doubt that I love Rohan-kun," she assured herself with Red Text. "I love both him and my Master. They could torture me for weeks and I'd be happy..." she said to herself as she headed toward his house.
Upon reaching the house, she found that the door was surprisingly unlocked, and Ryouko slipped in faster than she recalled doing. She took care to get up the stairs as quiet as possible and headed to the room she knew he usually drew in. If he was sleeping, she decided, she'd kiss his neck to show that she wanted him, and if he was awake, she'd go in for the kill. Her excitement had been so encompassing that she hadn't even noticed that he wasn't even in the room in the first place. "... Rohan-kun...?" she squeaked out.
"Is... that really you, Ryouko-san?" asked a voice behind her, and Ryouko spotted Rohan standing in the doorway. "I'm not having some weird dream, am I? You broke in as usual and you're here, right?" he asked, and she ran at him to try to leap into his arms, only to jump into him and send both of them to the floor. "Was that necessary!?"
Ryouko tried to rub her face against his. "Rohan-kun!! I came by because today's Valentine's and the Meta World let me come and visit you!!" After a long pause filled with dagger-like glares, Ryouko finally got to her feet and helped Rohan up. "I brought you two gifts!!" She held out the notebook she had accidentally peered into earlier and the box of chocolates. "Happy Valentine's Day, Rohan-kun!"
Rohan quickly looked through the notebook as he headed to his desk. "I guess I should thank you, Ryouko-san. And it's good to see you, even if it's just because of the Meta," he remarked while he sat down on his desk. "So you're still writing poorly written erotic fantasies, I see," he groaned, setting the notebook on the desk. "Considering that you gave me a mix of songs with stalker undertones last year, I feel the need to ask... you didn't put anything like a needle or hot sauce in these, did you, Ryouko-san?"
Ryouko puffed her cheeks up and plopped herself into the sole chair in the room. "I wouldn't kill you on Valentine's Day, Rohan-kun! That's not romantic!"
"That doesn't clear up my fears by the longest shot, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt for today."
"I'll feed you one myself to prove that these aren't designed to hurt or kill you, then!" She grabbed one and began trying to shove the piece of chocolate in his mouth. "Open up! Ahhhhh!"
He snatched the chocolate out of her hand and shoved it in his own mouth. "I can feed myself, you know. These aren't bad at all. Guess there's another talent you have."
Ryouko slammed her hands on the desk on either side of Rohan, prompting him to back up a little onto the desk. "You accepted my gifts for you, so this totally means you have to get me something for White Day, right? Right?"He merely crossed his arms. "But that's the rule!"
"What if I refuse?" he asked with a smirk, and Ryouko stepped back to point at him. "That event has nothing to do with me, as you say."
Ryouko clutched her notebook to her chest. "Rohan-kun, you are obligated to get me something for White Day!! It's customary!"
The manga artist waved his hand in a circle. "Details, details. I have an idea. We'll have a small game, and if you can prove that we're friends, I'll return this favor to you in a month. Deal?"
"I get to play a game with Rohan-kun proving that he cares about me? I accept!" A chessboard began floating between them, and Ryouko noticed that his outfit had changed. "I, the detective, shall prove that a Creator Witch cares about me as his friend!" She opened her notebook. "Behold, 670 pieces of evidence to show that you see me as a friend!"
Rohan drew up a page in thin air. "I can list many grievances that can be considered proof that you are just an annoyance I tolerate. Too numerous to count."
Ryouko curtseyed, the way she usually did in these types of battles. "I've always liked you since we started correspondence, and yet you never ended our friendship. If I recall correctly, at one point, I may have driven you to go on a drunk 3 AM walk, and yet, I'm not in jail for causing you so much strife. I think the biggest piece of evidence for my argument has to be... this!" She pulled out some books, and gazed at him with a knowing smile.
"You're using the fact that I've never given you a truly cruel death in the Golden Witch series, while others have experienced deaths unimaginable to the normal person," he commented. "Do you want me to start murdering you cruelly in these tales to make it fair?"
The detective dramatically pointed yet again. "You're partially right, but what I'm using as evidence that you do see me as your friend is your very writing! This one passage where you describe yourself going to my grave has you thinking that 'he felt a need to honor the grave of his friend once a week with flowers in his own way of coping with the loss of someone he cared about. He would never admit it to himself, but he knew that it was true.' Right there is evidence that you care!"
The Creator Witch sighed. "I resign, then. You win, Ryouko-san." The room and his clothes changed back to how it was before. "I get to decide what I'm getting you, though."
Ryouko hugged him tightly. "I love you, Rohan-kun!! Thank you!!"
"I know you do, get off me!" He fell back into his chair. "You're troublesome even when you're a cat box, you know that? But I kind of missed that, just a little."
Ryouko knelt down and kissed Rohan's hand, and his gaze upon her was similar to a old man chasing children off his lawn. "Did you know a kiss on the hand means devotion? One on the neck means I want you, one on the lips means I love you..."
"You aren't kissing me anywhere today than where you just did, Ryouko-san."
"You're a truly proud manga artist.... I love that about you."
