Name: Kiyoemon (Nagito) Komeada
Age: 683 years old (looks 18)
Species: Furniture
Personality: Kiyoemon is quiet, soft-spoken, and laid-back. He is also mentioned to be in rather high spirits despite being essentially a slave, smiling most of the time and almost showing no emotion except that Stepford smile. He receives mistreatment with a smile and sometimes even seems to enjoy it, but the mistreatment is only a rarity in his case. Kiyoemon often calls himself "worthless trash" that doesn't deserve any kindness from others, but at the same time, he desires to be appreciated, loved and understood. Kiyoemon also is very apologetic and knight-like.
Backstory: Nagito’s life has been one of extreme ups and downs, practically due to his “luck”. When something extremely good happens to him, something terrible happens afterwards. For example, his first memory of this luck was when he was around five and his baby sister was born. After she came out as a happy and healthy baby, their mother died in childbirth and his father had a heart attack right before their eyes. Now, Nagito had to care for himself and his sister, without any money and on the streets. One particular day, he spotted a rich family- two parents and a girl a few years older than him- with a large puffy loaf of bread that could feed him and his sister for about a few weeks. His “magic” came back again as his maneuver to steal the bread was done with such dexterous skill, but after he went back to his makeshift home and enjoyed his meal for the day, a rough hand of the father of the family grabbed his wrist and dragged him away from his sister. The man revealed himself to be a sorcerer and would have killed Nagito on the spot if his daughter, Yoshiko, hadn’t intervened to spare him. The father and daughter compromised to let the poor boy live, yet have him be furniture to the family. Yoshiko’s parents gave him a new name: Kiyoemon, and they overall treated him like a slave, even having him wear a collar and a chain. After the death of Yoshiko’s parents, the fallen angel had officially taken custody of the furniture. This witch treated him much better, this time like an actual person. Many centuries have passed. Kiyoemon still wears the collar to remind him of his loyalties. He now is invited to the island of Ayashima alongside his mistress. Though he’s still uncomfortable about his gift/ curse, he wonders what he could bring to the table.
Connection to Ayashima: His mistress, Yoshiko, wanted to observe the gameboard and see which way luck would have it.
Magical abilities, if any: Not exactly, Kiyoemon possesses a cycle of consistent good and bad luck. Whenever something extremely lucky happens to him, something extremely unlucky is bound to happen soon after. While the talent seems to protect him from death, it can cause him great suffering and has killed many people around him.
Love interest, if any:
He has a slight crush on his Mistress.
